Earlier this year P&O Ferries took delivery of Spirit of Britain, the first of two new 49,000 ton ferries built specifically for the route. A second, identical ship, Spirit of France, is due for delivery in the autumn of 2011. The ships are the largest ever to be built for the Dover - Calais service. With up to 30 departures each day P&O Ferries operates an "open ticket" system.
P&O Ferries also offers combined passenger and freight services between Hull & Rotterdam and Zeebrugge. The vessels serving these routes, offer a wealth of facilities for freight drivers with some added extras such as a cinema and casino! In addition freight drivers are also able to take advantage of the freight only services between Teesport in the north east of England & Rotterdam and Zeebrugge.
On the Irish Sea, P&O Ferries offers crossings between Liverpool & Dublin, Larne & Cairnryan and Larne & Troon, the latter specialising in unaccompanied traffic.
