About Scotland
Scotland is one of the four constituent countries of the United Kingdom and shares a land border only with England. The largest city in Scotland is Glasgow but her capital city and home of the Scottish Parliament is Edinburgh, located on the Firth of Forth.
Regular ferry services operate from Belfast in Northern Ireland to Stranraer whilst there are also services from Larne to Cairnryan and Troon. From the eastern side of Scotland there is a regular freight only service between Rosyth & Zeebrugge, whilst Aberdeen is the principal gateway for the lifeline services to the Shetland Islands. Ferries to the Orkney Islands leave from Scrabster, close to the north-east tip of Scotland or from Gills Bay.
Most ferries serving Scotland carry a combination of both tourist and freight traffic but some high speed craft carry tourist vehicles and small freight vehicles only. The Rosyth - Zeebrugge link does not offer a tourist vehicle/passenger service.
