November 2011 see's the launch of Stena Line's new route from Cairnryan to Belfast, replacing the existing Stranraer to Belfast service. This new, shorter route, will also accommodate two new ships for the Scotland to Northern Ireland service as part of a £200m investment programme. Tickets can be booked now for travel on the Cairnryan-Belfast route starting November 21st. Cairnryan is a small village overlooking Lochryan and is notable today for its large modern ferry port, which links Scotland with both Belfast and Larne ferry ports in Northern Ireland. The Port of Cairnryan is located on the northern edge of Loch Ryan in the south west of Scotland.
